What happens during a safety inspection?
Our technician checks the vehicle against Ontario’s applicable inspection standard, including braking, steering, suspension, tires, lighting and other required systems. We explain the results and any items that need attention. A certificate is issued only when the vehicle meets the required standard.

Safety inspection questions
When might I need a Safety Standards Certificate?
Common reasons include a used-vehicle ownership transfer, registering a vehicle brought into Ontario, or changing its status from unfit to fit. Requirements and exemptions depend on the transaction.
How long is the certificate valid?
Ontario’s Safety Standards Certificate is valid for 36 calendar days after the inspection. It records that the vehicle met minimum safety standards at the time of inspection.
What if the vehicle fails?
We explain the failed items and can quote the required repairs. Ask us about the applicable reinspection process, timing and charges before arranging follow-up work.
Can I get a same-day inspection?
Call to check available appointments. Completion depends on technician availability, the vehicle’s condition and whether repairs are required. Confirm inspection hours separately from our general shop hours.
